NameForge WoW Forever Surname Generator
In WoW Forever the second name is what makes your character unique. First names can be shared across your region, but the full pair cannot, so this generator focuses only on second names. Keep the first name you care about and try surname after surname until the pair feels right.
Every surname follows the same rules as a character name: 2 to 12 letters, a single leading capital, letters only, and no letter three times in a row. NameForge also checks each result against a blocked-word list on its own and alongside your first name, because Blizzard reads both parts together.
Switch tones to change the mood. Lore surnames sound like old families and places in Azeroth. Funny and Trollish surnames turn an ordinary first name into a joke. If you plan to play Roleplay, stay with Lore.
Remember that you can hide your second name in the game world through Options > Nameplates, so even a plain surname is a fine way to lock in a first name.

Frequently asked questions
How long can a WoW Forever surname be?
Guides report that each name part is 2 to 12 characters, and NameForge applies that limit to surnames. Blizzard has not confirmed the second name's maximum length separately, so treat it as something to confirm when the reservation screen opens on October 27.
Can I hide my surname in WoW Forever?
Yes. Blizzard confirmed you can hide your second name in the game world through Options > Nameplates. Your full pair still exists and still has to be unique in your region, but other players will mostly see only your first name in the world.
Can two players have the same surname in WoW Forever?
Yes. Only the full two-name combination must be unique in your region, so many players can share a surname as long as their first names differ. That is why guilds and friend groups can use one family name across their whole roster.
