Privacy Policy

NameForge is a free name generator. This page explains what data the site handles, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: names are generated in your browser, nothing you generate is sent to us, and the only personal data we store is an email address if you choose to join the reservation alert list.

Names you generate

Every name is built by code that runs in your browser using word banks that ship with the page. Your choices (race, class, tone, ruleset) and a short random seed are written into the page address so you can share a result. We do not receive or store the names you generate or check.

Saved names and history

Saved names and your last 20 spins are kept in your browser's local storage on your device. They are never sent to NameForge. Clearing your browser's site data removes them.

Email alerts

If you sign up for the Hardcore reservation alert, we store your email address, the page you signed up from, whether you confirmed, and the time you signed up. We use it only to send the confirmation email and the alert itself. Sign-ups are double opt-in: nothing is sent beyond the confirmation email until you click the link in it.

The list is stored in a Cloudflare D1 database and emails are delivered by Resend, which processes your address on our behalf to send the message. To limit abuse, the sign-up endpoint briefly records a counter tied to your IP address; it expires within minutes and is not linked to your email.

We never sell or share the list, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time.

Hosting and analytics

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Workers. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as IP addresses and request logs to deliver pages and protect against attacks. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It does not use cookies or local storage and does not track you across sites.

Advertising

NameForge may show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to NameForge and other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings, and learn more at How Google uses cookies in advertising. You can also opt out of many third-party vendors at aboutads.info. Where the law requires it, you will be asked for consent before personalized ads are shown.

Affiliate and support links

Some links, such as game-time cards on Amazon, are affiliate links marked as sponsored; NameForge may earn a commission if you buy through them. Ko-fi and Discord links take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or to object to how it is used. The only personal data NameForge itself holds is the email list described above. Email hello@nameforge.gg and we will handle your request promptly.

Children

NameForge is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.

Frequently asked questions

Does NameForge store my favorite names?

Your favorites and history are stored only in your own browser using local storage. They never reach a NameForge server. Clearing your browser data removes them, and they will not follow you to another device unless you copy the share links.

What happens to my email if I join the Hardcore heads-up list?

You confirm your address through a confirmation email first. Confirmed addresses are stored in Cloudflare D1 and messages are sent with Resend. We only use it for the Hardcore reservation heads-up, and we will unsubscribe you on request.

Does NameForge use cookies?

NameForge may show ads from Google AdSense, which uses cookies. Site analytics come from Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless. The generator itself needs no account and no cookies, and the site is hosted on Cloudflare.
